Felice was the captain of the Blue Thunder Masters 60+ water polo team in the World Aquatics Masters Championship Kyushu 2023. I have to write „was”, as a couple of weeks later he had a heart attack during a training, he was taken to hospital, but there he passed away…
After some months of exchanging e-mails we met first in Kumamoto personally. Our hotels were close to each other so we went out to have dinner together a couple of times. He told me how he had immigrated from Yugoslavia to the USA, and how he had started a whole new life. In the meantime he did not break his old connections, he was always very proud to have been a member of the KPK Korcula water polo club. He did not miss to mention to me several times that he had seen the match where KPK Korcula had won over FTC (my former club at the seventies) in nineteen-seventy-something.
I noticed the excessive trembling of his hand, but I was not brave enough to ask him about it.
During the matches he always tried to go forward, to think positive and to continue what was already done well. Unfortunately, the team members had not played together earlier, so it was a really hard job for him to make the unison. Finally, we were not the last (fifth from six), which was a success, we all felt.
He was a really good guy. His death is a great loss for everyone who knew him. I remember Felice with the goals he shot in Japan…
